Creamy Tangy Sauce (Printable)

Silky lemon-Dijon mayo-yogurt sauce with garlic and herbs, ideal for salads, dips, sandwiches and grilled vegetables.

# What You Need:

→ Base

01 - 1/2 cup mayonnaise
02 - 1/4 cup sour cream
03 - 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt

→ Acidity & Flavor

04 - 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
05 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
06 - 1 tablespoon white wine vinegar

→ Seasonings

07 - 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup
08 - 1 small garlic clove, finely grated
09 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
10 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
11 - 1 tablespoon chopped fresh herbs (chives, parsley, or dill – optional)

# How to Make It:

01 - In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream, and plain Greek yogurt. Whisk vigorously until the mixture is completely smooth and uniform in texture.
02 - Add the fresh lemon juice, Dijon mustard, white wine vinegar, honey or maple syrup, and the finely grated garlic clove to the bowl. Whisk again until all ingredients are fully incorporated and no streaks remain.
03 - Season with salt and black pepper, adjusting to taste. Stir in the chopped fresh herbs if using, distributing them evenly throughout the sauce.
04 - Taste the finished sauce and adjust the seasoning as desired. Add more lemon juice to increase tanginess or additional honey for a sweeter balance.
05 - Use the sauce immediately, or transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 1 week to allow the flavors to meld and develop further.

# Expert Tips:

01 -
  • It comes together in under ten minutes with zero cooking and zero stress.
  • The balance of creamy and tangy makes almost everything taste better, from roasted carrots to a Tuesday night sandwich.
02 -
  • The sauce thickens after sitting in the fridge, so if it seems a little loose at first, that is perfectly normal.
  • Grating the garlic on a microplane instead of chopping it prevents those unpleasant raw garlic surprises in each bite.
03 -
  • Taste the sauce at room temperature rather than cold, because chilling dulls flavors and you may overcorrect otherwise.
  • If you want a vegan version, swap in vegan mayo and a plant based yogurt and the texture will still be spot on.
